Today we took a short trip up to Montpelier, Idaho to visit the National Oregon/California Trail Center. They were having a bear exhibit featuring Old Ephraim's skull.
Here we are pulling up to Grandma and Papa's house. Abby was super excited to have them join us. She loves her grandparents! She has a box of keychain flashlights on her lap that kept her entertained for the first half hour of the trip. The strangest things entertain toddlers. You just never know what they will spend half an hour sorting. Yesterday it was barrettes.
Here is a statue of a bear that Abby was not at all frightened of even after I pointed out how sharp its teeth were.
This is a display of items found in the sheep trailer of Frank Clark who shot Old Ephraim. There was some cool stuff that Abby thankfully could not touch because it was behind glass.
There was also a quilt display in the museum. I liked this one even before I saw that it was called "Crazy Quilt." It was crazy awesome if you ask me.
Here is the skull on loan from the Smithsonian. It was pretty gnarly and nasty but also a piece of Utah history!
This bear looks like a cardboard cutout but it is not. It is a real stuffed bear and it was officially scary. The claws were huge. If I saw a bear in nature I would not have to play dead because I would be passed out on the ground.
